Tado V3+ wireless and Vaillant Ecotec Pro eBus install
Hey all,
My installer (Aneil from A&E Plumbing) just installed the tado V3+ wireless for combi boilers with my Vaillant Ecotec Pro (from 2008) through eBus (for modulation). V3+ has native support for Vaillant eBus.
After some trial and error, here's some key findings through the install process to get modulation working:
- Connect the wireless receiver as per the instructions to the board
- Connect the wireless receiver to the eBus + and - connectors
- Bridge the 230v (pins 3 and 4, but check your board / wiring diagram)
- Test if thermostat / app can successfully send a request for heat and turn on the boiler (and turn then turn off)
If the boiler is not turning on, then contact the tado support team, as they will need to remotely configure the receiver to enable "eBus / modulation" mode. By default, the wireless receiver is set to "relay" mode (simple on and off, no modulation). Once this is done, modulation worked for my boiler - at the least the boiler would fire when heat was requested.
Also, since it was a warm day during the install process, remember the thermostat will not send a heat request if the ambient temperature is over 25ºC, so put the thermostat somewhere to cool down.
Shout out to the tado support team for helping us through the process!
