How can I verify that a Tado TRV is physically working?

An issue has developed where one of my Tado TRVs no longer shuts off the water flow to a radiator when it should. The tado app shows it as off and the system thinks everything is working but the radiator remains very hot when it should not be. I have checked the actual valve body; the mechanism is not jammed and when I push the pin down with a screw on cap the radiator goes cold. That seems to indicate the Tado TRV head as the culprit. I can hear a sound when I manually adjust the temperature to very high or very low but I would like to verify that the actuator is indeed moving and moving adequately. Any way to do that?
