Connecting smart thermostat x to wifi

My home wifi has three access points these all have the same SSID and work together as an extended service set (ESS) with devices being able to seamlessly roam between the access points without losing the network connection.

I am currently installing a Tado X system. I registered all the smart radiator valves on my kitchen table before connecting them to the actual radiators. When I installed the upstairs radiators some of them did not appear in the tado app. My understanding is that the valves connect using the matter protocol using my 2.4gHz wireless network as a link layer.

My guess is that because I registered them all on my kitchen table they all connected initially to the access point in my downstairs lounge. However when I moved them upstairs they failed to roam to the upstairs access point. My access points are configured to use 802.11r fast roaming. Could this be a factor? Does Tado support roaming at all? Do I have to repeat the the registration process with the valves in situ on the radiators?

Any help gratefully received.
