Tado X Energy IQ Heating Insight

Hi, I am having issues in reported consumption (and related consumption savings) of all radiators in my house reported by the Tado app Energy IQ Heating Insight. My heating provider measures unit consumption remotely so that I can see it with a 1-week delay in my profile on their webpage. In the Tado app, I am using "units" as heating units (so no kWh or m³) and putting the price per unit from last year's annual settlement (it is not precise but informative). In January and February it was looking all good (at least it did not draw my attention). But in April, Heating Insight in Energy IQ reports increased month-to-month consumption by 14%, which draws my attention. So I have compared the total number of units that Tado reports from my daily entries (yes, I am putting unit consumption on a daily basis, and the price per unit is 0.554 EUR) and compared unit consumption reported by Tado Energy IQ with readings reported by my central heating provider. Here there are

January - Tado shows 220.5 units (measures from provider 399 units)

February - Tado shows 208.4 units (measures from provider 394 units)

March - Tado shows 210.2 units (measures from provider 227 units)

April - Tado shows 232.2 units (measures from provider 106 units)

I am really wondering what is wrong here. I am putting readings daily with a one-week lag (until the provider reports them). I have checked all entries that I have put into the Tado app since January, and all are correct. So, what is Energy IQ in Tado calculating? Moreover, around half of April, the central heating (I live in a block of flats, so I have no control over central heating) was turned off, so measures reported 0 consumed units for these days. I put those zeros into the Tado app. You see that "real" consumption in April dropped to 106 units (from 227 in March). So how can tado Energy IQ report 210.2 units in March and 232.2 units in April? It is complete nonsense.

Any explanation or advice?

Thank you in advance.

@Rajmund_M Hello. We use a spreadsheet to track energy consumption and make comparisons.

Thank you for your response. However, your clarification did not explain confused measures provided by Energy IQ.

As you see there are discrepancies between energy consumption that I put in every single day and monthly sums provided by Energy IQ for every single month. I.e. how can Tapo show 232 units consumed in April when I put in sum 106 units? It is like that every month.

    Moreover, Energy IQ shows:

    1. (In February) Your consumption is 6% higher compared to January 2025
    2. (In March) Your consumption is 1% higher compared to February 2025
    3. (In April) Your consumption is 14% higher compared to March 2025

These "savings" are counted from numbers that Tado is showing, so all these calculations are misleading for me. Any explanation? 14% increase in consuption in April are calculated from 232 (April) and 210 (March) .. but these numbers are incorrect (even though, 232 / 210 = 1.10466 (10.5% increase) so how did it get 14% increase?). No metter of this, it should be, instead, calculated (using my numbers) 106 / 227 = 0.46696 so it should be 53.3% savings.

    Thank you.

Long time user here. I subscribed to Energy IQ and cancelled it because I was paying for something that don't work. I spent years adding manual readings and it didn't calculate correctly. There's a problem with the algorithm and I really don't think it will be fixed anytime soon.
