Tado X - hot water boosting

Hi all,

I am thinking about moving from another system to the Tado X with heating and hot water. I have noticed some posts with people mentioning there are hot water features missing from the previous version (V3+).

I understand via the app the hot water can work on a schedule, but via the app can the hot water be boosted at any time for say 1 hour or a set amount of time?

Thanks for the help.

@j0n Yes and yes. You can easily boost the HW via the app. We do that regularly,

Is it possible to change the duration on Tado X? Some people post that it’s not.

Thank you for the replies, I got the Tado X system configured yesterday and I can boost the heat and hot water, but unfortunately cannot adjust the duration of time they are boosted for.

I created a post in the ideas/suggestions section regarding this.
Hopefully it is a feature the development team will consider implementing in the future.

@j0n Hello. Glad to hear you've got things working.

'Duration' is a feature of the 'Manual' function. The default action/duration is in the Room setting and can be changed every time you manually boost a Room or the HW.

    Three options:

    • Until next automatic change.
    • Timer. 0 hours 0 minute to 23 hour 59 minute.
    • Until you resume schedule. Infinity symbol ∞

When you ask a Tile in the App to manually turn ON, a small pencil appear on the bottom right. Click on the pencil and it brings up a slider to change the duration. Be aware that this will override the default duration setting for next time you boost that Room or HW.

@wateroakley Many thanks for your reply. It is very helpful and works great for the heating.

Do you know is there also a manual mode also for the hot water, so that time can be also be amended?

I can only see boost, which is for 1 hour or the schedule, but no pencil icon.

    Thanks again for your help.

Hello @j0n Glad to hear that manuala mode is working for the heating.

Yes, Hot Water has a manual mode.

I've turned Hot Water ON. Click on the Pencil (bottom right), brings up the slider for changing the duration.

    EDIT: Typo

@wateroakley Thank you for the reply, when I boost the hot water I don't have the pencil icon.

I only have a rocket ship icon. So unfortunately no option to edit the duration.

@j0n Hmm? Ours is controlling a V3+ system. I've looked on our iPhone and it's the same. I'm not aware that the X version behaves differently? The help pages also suggest V3+ and X behave the same?

Maybe I'm missing something. Can you raise your question to Tado support from the chat function on the main web pages?

@wateroakley Thanks again for your help. My system is the X so guessing that might be where the difference is. I will ask support.

  • I had the same query and support confirmed the hot water schedule is only supported on v3+ not X systems. This seems a backward move as X is the new system. They could not give a timeframe of when the feature would be implemented, but suggested raising it as a feature request in the forums so others could upvote to make it a priority.
