EHC Slimjim boiler

I have a EHC Slimjim boiler (electric 14.4kw) what does just my underfloor heating in the winter. It was originally fitted with a Honeywell DT4 but it became annoying turning it off and on when we went away etc. I have now purchased a Tado Smart thermostat X and want to connect that to it instead. Tado support told showed me what wires to connect but it's constantly calling for heat even though the thermostat is off. If anyone could point me in the right direction of why and how to get the boiler to work when the thermostat calls for heat rather than constantly it would be much appreciated.

Please detail what you have done, how it’s connected.

  • Thanks for your reply. At the moment I only have two wires connected. It comes from the slimjim on the RP volt free terminals to the opentherm terminal on the Tado X. Previously on the honeywell DT4 I had the 230v live, neutral and earth powering it and the 2 RP volt free wires going to the AB terminals that were used to call for heat. That worked fine but the thermostat wasn't programmable so I couldn't set the times I wanted it on and off.

I don't know how to add pictures as I have them on my phone. I would have uploaded them.

Tado technical told me to just connect the two wires from the RP volt free to the opentherm and it will be ok but this is constantly calling for heat even though the stat is set to off.

You should be on the COM and NO for relay control.

@Waynez1983 Hello. Are you simply replacing the 240V DT4 with a Tado wired thermostat?

    DT4 'A' = Tado 'COM'. DT4 'B' = Tado 'NO'

  • @wateroakley that's what I want to do yeah. I have been going back and forth with Tado support and they told me i have to use the opentherm.

I literally just tried the Com and NO on the Tado and it works perfectly 👌. Thank you so much for your help. The wife can stop moaning at me now lol.
  • @Montage thanks for your help. Really appreciate it 🙏
