I want to upgrade to Tado, can anyone guide me?
Hi Tado community. We just moved in to our new home and currently doing house reno. Whilst doing the Kitchen, my wife would want to upgrade to a smart thermostat.
Here's some info:
Boiler: Vaillant ecoTEC plus 618
Wired Thermostat: Drayton LP 112
We also have a wired thermostat in the living room (Honeywell- dont know the item code):
What is the simple/easiest way to upgrade to Tado ecosystem for this?
What Tado product would you suggest would be the most appropriate for this set up?
I have checked that the wired honeywell thermostat in the living room only becomes live when the CH is turned on (Drayton LP 112)
Thank you so much for any input/ insights/help

@leandrolg Hello. The first check should be with Tado customer teams for their advice. You can contact them from the chat function on the main webpages. Please be aware that the chat-bot will ask a lot of questions.
The picture shows your Heating and Hot Water are operated by two 2-way zone valves, presumably a standard S-Plan.
In principle, the basic setup:
- A wireless starter kit. This replaces the old Invensys controller. The wireless temperature sensor and wireless receiver control CH and Hot Water. You'll bridge (join) the old Honeywell thermostat wiring with a Wago connector from the kit. Alternatively, it's decoding the wiring inside the Honeywell wiring centre and joining the wires there.
- As many TRVs as your budget will stretch to.
- Tado is 'cloud' based so you'll need an always-on internet connection (broadband).
- Tado X is the newer version. Tado V3+ is the older version, has a few extra features, and the wireless conection works on a different standard.
- Compare 'X' vs 'V3+'
- Check your smart phone model. The Tado° mobile apps are currently available for iOS 16.4 and above; Android 9 and above* (*Only for devices that have Google Play Services and Google Play Store installed.) The oldest supported Apple device is iPhone 8. The App on iOS 15 (iPhone 6s or 7) is alive, but not supported.
- ROI and Efficiency. Our ROI was less than 12 months in 2022. Other users report that ROI is around 24 months. Your boiler has a wide range of power modulation, which should behave efficiently when individual Tado TRVs 'call for heat.
Hope this helps.

Don't by Tado X - they suck.
Support is awful, 6 months and no answer
Setup does not work, had to reset everything more than 4 times
