Does the position of the valve affect its performance?
I noticed in continental Europe many radiators have horizontal valves, whilst in the UK the majority are vertical, which is my case.
I’m planning to move to Portugal and wondered if my vertical valves would be compromised if fitted horizontally?
Are the different valves pure aesthetic or functional ?

I believe the difference between the two types of Tado TRVs is simply the orientation of the display.
Horizontal would be preferable since it moves the sensors further from the heat source

Adding comment to 1st reply, many users here use elbow joints on their kit which turns tado TRVs to horizontal and moves sensors even further away.

There’s also the piping difference. BBOE (bottom, bottom, opposite end) is common here, but TBOE prevails elsewhere. Some argue that having any TRV at the top is better.
