So so annoyed…

Options

I spent hundreds of pounds on their kit and after 30minutes of trying I cannot find a way to speak with their TS, chatbots and community forums is the only thing I can find. Disgraceful, I wish I had never bought their kit..

I have a problem and I cannot talk to anyone…

never recommend Tado to anyone!

  • I installed this today and was extremely disappointed with how cheap looking and rubbish it is. I bought a wireless thermostat from Amazon for about £30 that is far better and Tado will be disconnected in the morning and my old thermostat recommissioned.

    What a let down.

I’m sure life without Tado is largely a better one.

    @jwDave

yes, Tado support is somewhat lacking. I see this as a problem of their business model since they don't have regular income to keep the support org funded.

what problems are you having? I'm sure the community will be able to assist. Please give us details on the following

    • what Tado products did you buy?
    • what were your previous controllers?
    • tell us about your heating system. boiler make/model. heating plan type - S/S+/Y or combi
    • relay or digital connections?
    • Have you used the Tado app to generate installation instructions?
    • anything else you can think of that might be useful

@PistonSmashed yes, the build is a little plasticky but once you get past that, the system works. I've had V3+ installed for nearly 6 years and in that time it's been mostly very reliable. A couple of small glitches but no hardware has failed. I would suggest sticking with it and getting used to it's quirks as it does work and it will save you money

@Montage lots of happy Tado owners out there …

  • I have 11 TadoX Radiator thermostats and 2 TadoX bridges. I have successfully connected them all to the Tado app and to Apple Home, the later only in an attempt to fix what I really want to do.

I use HomeAssistant (HA) and it controls all manner of things, in order to add the TadoX thermostats to HA it is necessary to use the Matter Code. Initially I tried connecting them to HA using the Matter Code supplied with the devices, this did not work. So then I connected them to Apple Home (this worked fine I believe because I have an Apple TV device that also acts as a thread router). I then tried to connect them to HA using the newly generated code supplied by Apple Home. Doing it this way 3 of the 11 connected but the other 8 will not connect.

I was simply wanting to speak with Tado to say that their Matter integration needs looking at as it appears to me that their bridge devices are not fully functioning as a thread router, only specifically with their own devices. Hence why I could connect to Apple home but not HA.

I live in an old farm house with very thick stone walls so my wifi is ‘distributed’ via a Deco mesh system.

I hope this is clear, and maybe someone has an idea?

@jwDave Hello. Sorry to hear you are having problems with the Tado matter/thread implementation.

My understanding of Tado X device thread/matter support is an Apple TV device or the Tado bridge. After many years in software development, best not to assume that the Tado bridge will do everything that the Apple TV will do. BTW, I’m struggling to reset our Apple TV box to connect to a new WiFi router.

@PistonSmashed @Montage @davidlyall we are using V3+ for over three years in two family homes. Just one early TRV failure, from 31 devices. Tado has its quirks, but works just fine for us and (most importantly) both swmbo and daughter have won the thermostat wars. Remarkably, compared to 2018/21 our gas consumption in 2025 has reduced by 50 %.

@Manuel Can you advise about the Tado thread/matter implementation, please? Thank you.

Try restarting the matter server inside HomeAssistant (in the addons section). I had to do this a few times. It's a HomeAssistant issue (Matter is still beta in HAOS). Also make sure your HomeAssistant has the Apple Home thread credentials and it's your preferred network.

You've done it the correct way - binning off the Tado thread border router which is not good, and using the Apple Home one(s).

    Thanks for the info @jwDave

I've no experience of X so will have to defer to others on here.

My experience of tado support has been OK. However, you won't get to speak to someone so I recommend you start a case with them and fully explain they issue. They will hopefully respond with a fix or advice
  • I wish I could, I can find no way of emailing them or any contact form other than the community site!

@jwDave use the chat function from their website. That will allow you to get in touch with support
