Boiler not firing up central heating

Options

I am replacing a Halo Thermostat (Zigbee Receiver ) and installing a Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+ in an Ideal Vogue Max Combi 26 boiler. After installing, all the lights on the Tado Receiver are static white, suggesting all is OK. However, when I turn the heating to max- 25c, the boiler doesn't fire up. The hot water still works OK but I'm not using the Smart Thermostat for that. I have disconnected the Zigbee from the boiler, so that's not causing the issue. Any thoughts on what the problem may be? Thank you..

  • Follow-up - I've just noticed the Central Light has now gone out. Only the On and Wireless lights on.

  • I'm so sorry, but I have just increased the heat setting back up to 25C and the CH light is back on. But the boiler has still failed to fire up?

Can't help with specifics but sounds like you have a wiring issue if the receiver CH light comes on but nothing happens in the boiler.

Can you provide photos of the install showing wiring and also confirm that there is voltage on the CH terminal when the light is on as it could be a relay issue in the receiver
  • Just a thought, should I disconnect the existing OPENTHERM link wires ( which appear to have been connected to the Zigbee Thermostat ) and replace them with the Tado grey & black wires?

@Snowflame are you using digital connections or relay?

Did you use the Tado configuration tool in the app to generate specific installation instructions based on the model of thermostat you were replacing?

You need to be very careful on this in case you end up applying mains voltage to a digital terminal. That would be dangerous and result in a very expensive repair …
