Is "Wireless temperature sensor" the same as "wireless thermostat"?

Saw in the eshop, is the add-on wireless temperature sensor the same as the one that bundled into “ Starter Kit - Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+” ?

@jw0ng02 No - not the same. The sensor does just that i.e. it is only a sensor to control tado- equipped radiators

    Really?

when looking at the specification page of the "wireless starter kit", the wordings seem to suggest that that "wireless thermostat" in the box is actually "wireless temperature sensor"?

Yes it is a temperature sensor BUT it is ALSO a boiler-controlling apparatus which the cheaper device is not.

  • Thanks for clarifying. Make sense.
  • I have a standalone wireless sensor and a wireless thermostat from a starter kit. They have the same model number and look identical. If they are different wouldn't they have different model numbers?

A Wireless Thermostat can be either a Wireless Temperature Sensor or a Wired Smart Thermostat configured (downgraded) to operate as a Wireless Thermostat.

Originally there was only the Wired Smart Thermostat that could be used wired or wirelessly. The cheaper Wireless Temperature Sensor came later and omits the ability for wired control of the system.

I suspect you have two Wireless Temperature Sensors.
