In theory, you should still be able to control your Extension Kit / Wireless Receiver with your Smart Thermostat when your internet is dead. Assuming the Internet Bridge is still powered and there are no issues with the wireless connection, then the manual control on the thermostat should still be received by the Extension Kit / Wireless Receiver.
If the Extension Kit / Wireless Receiver loses connection with the thermostat, there are other things you can do to have heating and/or hot water.

Found an update.
When the internet is down.
Short Press the sych button on the extension kit once and the water and heating will turn on, press it again and they will turn off.
Press it twice quickly and it will boost hotwater.
Found this by accident. Had Tado 4 years, when first purchased that button only had long press sync function.
