AWB Thermoelegance 4 eBUS

Hi,

I have the Tado thermostat connected like my old On/Off one (as seen in the pictures below).

It is set in the Config. menu to R01. Everything works except the smart radiator thermostats cannot turn the boiler on. Only the wired thermostat can.

I tried to connect it to eBUS as described in the manual to try and fix this but it is not working. I connected it as below and set the config menu to D07, D05, T5 but nothing is working at all.

Not sure how these cables are connected but they seem different.

What can I do to have eBUS connectivity & the smart radiator knobs to turn on the boiler?

The problem you describe, "Everything works except the smart radiator thermostats cannot turn the boiler on.", has absolutely nothing to do with the change you are making (from on/off to bus control).

These are two completely different things that you need to approach separately, by creating the correct configuration.

  • Hi Rob, Yes that is correct, these are two different issues.

First, How should I properly connect eBUS to my Tado?

Second, when I have succesfully connected Tado via eBUS, how can I make my smart radiator thermostats turn on the boiler?

    Thanks!

In the room in the tado app set the wired thermostat as the zone controller (don't know the exact therm in English)

Hi @KristianT , first question, are you Dutch? Your name suggests so and this is a Dutch forum so..

Anyway, regarding your question. I am in the same process of switching from relay control to modulation. In my case, when switching to modulation I had to put a 'shunt' (short-circuit) between the RT and 24V clamps. If not, the heater actually did recognize the thermostat (there are internal diagnostics, please read the installation manual of your heater carefully) and it even sent the right temperature request, however, the boiler did not start. Turned out RT/24V had to be bridged. Found it here https://tado.vanillacommunities.com/nl/discussion/6844/awb-thermoelegance-ebus-protocol-d07-werkt-niet-advies-gevraagd

Wasn't really clearly described in the heater manual though, but it was in one of the AWB thermostat manuals (can be found on their website). So first try without, if it doesn't work, bridge RT/24V and try again.
