Trying to connect my tado x thermostat

Hi,
I'm trying to connect my tado x thermostat into the app. But when i scan the matter qr code it says it cannot connect to google. We don't use google home devices or anything. So i'm not sure how google enters the coversation.
Just want to use the wireless receiver (which does work and connect to the app) and connect this one to the tado x wireless thermostat.
