Why does Tado store location data for 2 weeks?

From the Tado Privacy Policy:

”We will keep your personal information for as long as you have an account with us. After you close your account with us we will keep your personal information for a reasonable period to maintain our records and legal obligations to you. Sensitive personal information such as location information is automatically deleted after 2 weeks even when your account is active.”

What possible reason can Tado have for storing location data for 2 weeks? Particularly when your privacy policy also states that the information can be handed to partners including but not limited to the Government and Police?

  • If you worry about privacy be aware that they can access your system remotely at anytime. They won't ask for permission to do so, they keep the logs of when you switch on and off your system. They will could figure it out easily if you are not home even without the geofencing.
  • Good question. Why two weeks and not 48hrs?
The geofencing events are already logged so why the need to keep location data?
If legal, mention it. If not legal, cut it down to minimum.
    Thx!
  • Deafening silence from Tado themselves on the forum. I have submitted a query to Tado Support asking this same question.

  • Did you ever receive a response from Tado?

I would like to use the geofencing feature, but ended up on this post beacuse it's very hard to find any good information on how exactly they handle that information.
