What happens to my existing boiler control unit in a wired setup?

Hi, I have a two zone heating setup with hot water. I'm going to replace my two existing thermostats (very simple temperature dial units) ) with Tado wired.

What happens to my existing control unit, does it just stay on all the time or is it bypassed? I'm a bit confused!

    Options
    You set both heating zones to ALL DAY on the programmer. This will allow the two Tado thermostats to schedule the on/off times. The hot water is unchanged and the scheduling stays on the programmer.
