Logic C30 with in-built controls

Options

I'm trying to help a friend out who wants to install Tado in his house. He actually has the same boiler as I do, an Ideal Logic C30. But his has installed into the front a timer control that I assume is doing the on/off switching.

Has anyone installed the Tado base to one of these? Is it as simple as detaching the wires from the inbuilt timer?

I think if it's that straight-forward I could install it for him - I did it on my own C30 without any hassle - I just want to be sure I'm not missing something before I tell him to buy the kit!

I wouldn’t even bother detaching the wires, just set it to always on.
