Tado Error 7168

I’ve spent the weekend fighting my Tado Smart AC v3 devices, all of which mysteriously stopped working on HomeKit simultaneously. I’m ready to throw them all out the window.
I fixed three of them. The fourth one kept giving me an “Accessory Already Added” (I forget the exact wording) in HomeKit. So I followed the Tado instructions to reset it.
Now the display on the Tado device gives me a 7168 error.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Any alternative to Tado I should consider? These devices are truly awful and temperamental.
