Upgrading from V1 to V3+ and geofencing subscription charges

I currently have the old v1 and I’m thinking of getting the v3+ to compliment my new boiler.

I am confused with different stories regarding charges for geofencing. I already have a v1 bridge for a long long time. Will I be able to upgrade to v3+ without a monthly charge and if so, is there a specific way to do this?

    As long as Tado have not invalidated the way to do this, all that is required is to replace/upgrade the Tado Bridge.

    For years its been a way to upgrade and avoid the Geofencing costs. There were no costs for the original V1 bridge users, so Tado allowed a subscription free upgrade to a newer bridge. This is the main reason that ebay users sell V1 Tado bridges.
