Are Tado Wired Thermostats quiet?

Options

Hi,

We’ve recently moved into a house which has a basic central heating system with a single thermostat in the hall.

Everything works but the thermostat has a mechanical relay in it which clicks on calling for heat or turning off. The hall has a tiled floor and at night the sound of this thermostat waked us up.

Are the Tado thermostats quiet in operation?

Thanks in advance everyone.

They will have a relay in them which clicks (every thermostat operating on switched relay will), so I doubt it will be much quieter.

The wireless temperature sensors are silent . . .

The wireless temperature sensors require a wireless receiver so it isn’t a straight swap replacement though.

Mix and match here. We can hear the Tado TRV motors, very briefly at 6 a.m, on the small rads in the bedroom and en-suite. Not heard on any others. The wireless receiver in the study ‘clicks’ when turning off. Compared to an ancient clunky mechanical room stat, everything is ‘silent’.

Top tip: Go for the wireless starter kit, replace the timer/control with the wireless receiver (not in your hall?) The wireless room stat is silent. The TRV motor may be quietly audible for 2-4 seconds. After 22 months, no complaints from swmbo.
