Removal of old thermostat

Hi

Does anyone know what wires need braided etc in an Eclipse wired thermostat. There are currently 3 wires and a bridge by the looks of it but not sure what to do with them. Thanks

Is this a fully electronic version with a display and small knob, or the older traditional type with a large dial? Looking at the manuals for both, they seem to be really simple: One wire is Live, the other is Switched Live - which only turns on when the thermostat asks for heat. I can see why it could include earth, for safety reasons, but thats it.

    • Earth goes to the casing Earth strap.
    • Live goes to COM, or LIVE
    • Switched Live goes to NO.

Problem is you need to trace the cabling back to the CH+HW wiring box, which is usually situated close to the boiler. Inside that box will be the other end of that cable.

Do you have the kit to test for Live, Neutral, etc? If not, I'd ask a Sparkie to get involved.
