Help!

I recently installed my Tado extension kit to control my hot water. It is scheduled to come on daily between 13:00 and 15:00 but for two days now it has not fired up. The heating radiator schedule is working fine.

When I turn the hot water on, on the app, I can hear the extension kit 'click' to turn the hot water heating on but the boiler doesn't fire up. Nothing has changed so I'm perplexed as to why it's not coming on at the scheduled times when the heating works fine.

Is it a Y plan system, could the mid-position valve have malfunctioned?

Hey Hugbilly, I’m not sure of the setup. I’m afraid? This was the setup before I installed the extension kit. I replicated the wiring on the Tado extension backplate. Pics attached below

    So, that's S plan wiring.

Did you fit the Extension Kit onto the same backplane i.e. no disturbance of the wires? Even if you did, I would recommend double checking that the wires are all tightly installed and possibly try to tidy the Live and Neutral terminals as some of those wires don't look very secure. Obviously turn off the power when you do this!

If that doesn't help, you could either

    a) reinstall the old programmer to check if HW works with that OR

    b) temporarily bridge between the live and HW NO terminals (terminal 3 IIRC) to take Tado out of the loop and confirm that if power is applied that the motorised valve operates and fires the boiler.

If either of those still result in the boiler not firing, it's likely your motorised valve has an issue since you know that the CH side of things works OK
