I’m unplugging and going to use Hive

After two different heating engineers coming round to set up my Tado system, I’m pulling it out and going to Hive instead. Our phones communicate with the thermostat, but that’s where it stops. Tried resetting and it’s just a waste of time and money.

Perhaps share some more details so the collective community can help you

    • What do you have installed now?
    • What Tado components are you installing?
    • Are you using relay or digital connections?

Some heating engineers seem to be scared of this "new" technology. For me, it was straightforward to install and it's been doing the job for over 4 years.

I would be very cautious before investing in Hive TRVs, their call for heat (Heat On Demand, HOD) function is hopeless and doesn't work. I am speaking from personal experience having installed and then returned a Hive system myself.

If you visit the Hive forum you will see a great deal of correspondence from a lot of unhappy customers discussing this.

If I was starting again I think I would opt for Wiser although I believe its hub can have connection issues.

I have some experience of the Honeywell Evohome system which seems to work well but is expensive . . .
