Tado system with 2 thermostat boilers

Hi everyone,

Apologies if that was asked before. I did a search and couldn't find a defintive answer.

So I moved from my flat to a new house and took my TADO starter kit + 2 TRvs with me.
In the flat I disconnected the boiler thermostat, wired the receiver to the boiler, thermostat in the corridor and TRV in the bedroom and living room.

Now in the new house I have the same boiler (which is great for connection) but 2 thermostats. One for the 1st floor and 1 for the ground floor. Each controlling 4 TRv's.

Now the issue is that 1 thermostat is in 1 of the bedroom and the other one is in the living room. And in those 2 rooms there's a radiator an no TRVs. So that means if I was to disconnect the 2 thermostats like in the flat I would be able to put the TADO thermostat in 1 of the rooms but the other one will not have any heating control.

So I'm wondering what the best approach would be in that scenario:

  1. By another starter kit and the remaining TRvs. 1 starter kit to control the 1st floor and the other one to control the ground floor. This seems like an overkill, expensive and not sure if it will work?
  2. Wire my current starter kit, put the TADO thermostat in 1 of the room, buy another add-on thermostat to stick in the other room and put TRvs in all the radiators that are needed. Seems easier and a tiny bit cheaper

Would option 1 and 2 work? Or something else? Any recommendation of what would be better?

    On first principles, option 2 is the best choice. Option 1 is a recipe for a lot of problems.

    @wateroakley many thanks for your answer. It is what I thought.

    However I'm wondering if tado will work in this case. In my previous flat the thermostat was simply directly wire to the boiler so it was easy.

    However upon inspection I found that the thermostats seem to be wired directly to the pipes and turn it on or off.

    I have attached pictures of it, wondering if anyone has seen something like this and if the solution would still work if I just disconnect the boiler connections?

    @papy07 This looks like a box to control the two CH zone valves (on the pipework) from two thermostats? I can't see an obvious 'power LNE supply? What is the make/model of thei box? And what make/model are the existing room stats?

    The easiest option is probably to use two Tado wired thermostats and they act as the 'zone controllers' for the two zone valves.

    Without knowing the whole setup, it's best to reach out to Tado for advice. The chat-line is on the bottom-right of the Tado website pages.
