Problem adding tado X Wireless Thermostat to Alexa

Hi Tado community,

Even though I follow all the instructions on the taro app (settings>device linking>copy code) as well as the Alexa app (add device>other>paste code) I’m not able to add the thermostat as a Matter device in Alexa. I keep getting a “Something went wrong - An unexpected error occurred. Please try angain later” and a GS014 error code. Any idea how to solve this?

  • Same here. Tried with two different Alexa devices: a new 2023 Echo Hub and an Echo Show 5th gen
Same error. And I double checked and both devices are compatible Thread bridges

  • I have the same problem since a few days.
I have Echo Show 10, Echo Dot 5 and Echo Spot 2024.

I‘ve resettet my Wireless Temperature Sensor.
Added it in the Tado App and then tried to Connect it in the Alexa App.

    Error Code GS014

I tried to get help from the Support Team.
At the Moment no Solution for that Problem
  • Hello @cpzcpz

I just wanted to jump in this thread to let you and other community members know that we've updated our Help Center article on how to set-up tado° X devices with Alexa.

    Among some of the changes:

    • We've clarified the importance of Thread Border Routers in addition to the Alexa Matter Controller. we don’t recommend setting up your tado° devices only in the Alexa app. This is because Amazon has not yet implemented NAT64 in its Thread border routers, so they can’t process important tado° firmware and security updates. This is why you need a compatible Thread border router in addition to your Alexa Matter controller to properly connect your tado° devices.
    • We've also emphasized that, while adding devices in the Alexa app works for V3+, tado° X can follow different process. It is recommended that the tado° app be used as follows:
    1. Open the tado° app.
    2. Select Settings > Rooms and devices and select the device that you want to add.
    3. Scroll down and select Device linking.
    4. On iOS, copy the setup code when prompted and proceed to the Alexa app to add the device. Paste the code when prompted.
    5. On Android, select the Alexa icon and follow the pop-up instructions to link your device.
    6. Repeat for each device.

(Alternatively, you can add the device from the Alexa app. Note that this method only applies to brand new devices (not yet added to the tado° app), or devices that have just undergone a Factory Reset).

Please let us know if this new information is helpful to you.

  • I tried to perform the procedure but it doesn't work anyway

  • @dany360
    Sorry it did not work.
Which of the procedures did you try, exactly?

    I just followed the article

1 Did a factory reset on the room thermostat

2 Removed the room thermostat from Tado.

3 Added it to Alexa. This time it didn’t complain about it already being connected elsewhere.

4 Added the room thermostat to Tado as I did originally.

    5. Renamed thermostat from default name back to Lounge

    6 Re-entered my schedule

All now working and can be controlled from Alexa.

Note because I called the thermostat Lounge Thermostat my commands have to include Lounge Thermostat, I.e. I have to ask “what is the lounge thermostat temperature”, “increase the lounge temperature temperature by 1 degree” etc, etc.
