What do I buy to replace my Nest system
I would love to move to Tado, but I'm finding it bit daunting.
I have a Nest thermostat that an engineer installed. There are two Nest controls (upstairs and downstairs) which are connected via cable to two Nest link devices in my hot press room (pic attached). We have two zones, upstairs and downstairs. I would like to control more than just upstairs and downstairs, I want to control each room.
What do I need to buy?
I am thinking of two packs of these smart radiator thermostats -
One of the Wireless temp sensors for the main bedroom because it has two radiators and I think I need this to control both radiators.
Do I need an internet bridge? If so, I should probably buy a kit like this one?
My current Nest app is able to control the hot water too. Our hot water is separate from the radiators. How does the Tado system control that?

Questions.
- Whats the exact boiler model? Is it a combi or system boiler? If it is a boiler that can be managed digitally it requirements will be different.
- Is your house old or very large? This affects whether the Tado range you need is the V3 series or the X series.
- See you have a pressure guage installed, is there underfloor heating involved downstairs? You'll need some more explanation.
The upstairs zone is triggered by a zone valve, as is downstairs. These are both triggered by a wired thermostat. Your options are (if you dont have underfloor heating):
- Either force both zone valves to remain open and thus remove the need to have generalised thermostats determining what happens on that floor. There are youtube videos which describe how to do that. Then fit smart TRVs.
- Or remove the zone valves (which makes the plumbing simpler and more reliable) and just fit smart TRVs.
It is the right thing to install smart TRVs as well, they really do save money. However before making a move, do come back with your answers and we could offer advice.
