questions re existing Tado Installation, with new Tado TRVs
I've been using Tado for years with a wireless thermostat, but just made the upgrade to fitting Tado TRVs throughout the house (thanks Black Friday) - 11 radiators (but not the 'control' radiator in the hall that never had a TRV)
It's a good job Tado is so well geared towards DIY capable folk - our old school heating engineer who installed our system 15 years ago and keeps the boiler serviced just goes blank when I try to talk to him about the Tado system!
Few questions for anyone with experience of a multi TRV setup with a combi boiler - any input massively appreciated!
? Have others experienced genuine savings with a full Tado TRV setup vs a single theromstat setup? In my mind, one one hand the boiler should be doing less work if I can reduce some specific room temperatures - on the other hand it might end up firing the boiler more often if single rooms are dropping below temperature.
? do I even need to use the wireless thermostat now?
? when we had one thermostat with one zone called 'heating' I could always look at the graph to see when the boiler had been on. Now with multiple rooms showing multiple graphs, is there a single souce of info about how active the boiler has been?
? when there are multiple radiators in a large room (open plan kitchen/lounge area with three rads), do the TRVs 'agree' an average room temperature between them to report the room temperature to the app? Do they then all set themselves to the same radiator temperature, or do they work independently?
? I'm happy with schedules and geofencing, but it would be good to have house presets - eg home working = I want two rooms on, but don't worry about the rest, family visiting = everything toasty. I don't think the Tado app does this other than the 'boost all' button - is this possible with apple homekit or similar?
Ta!
