Multiple Wireless Room Thermostats and Wireless Smart Valves....
this feels a bit like a dumb question but here goes …
I have just installed a V3 Wireless Thermostat , the boiler connection thing and about 8 smart Valves (V3).
Everything working .
So in my hall I have put the single Thermostat I got with the kit and put a smart valve on the radiator. Happy enough with that.
In the lounge (and all other rooms) I have , of course no wireless room Thermostat and smart valves on all of my radiators. So i can set the room temp to whatever and all the rads in the room heat up or cool down so that seems to be working..
However (and this is what bothers me) I see the heating is on to the room I am in and it hasnt yet reached the desired temperature but not all of the radiators in that room are on (it varies randomly) … I have a feeling that as the valves are next to the actual heat source they heat up to the desired room temperature before the room actually reaches it and so they seem to cool off before hitting the room temp thats set.
SHould i seriously be considering putting wireless room thermostats in every room in order to get the room to temperature (probably quicker) or is that crazy?
I like this system but this aspect bothers me.

I literally just came on to post the same thing!
I just installed my Tado system with a wireless thermostat and 6 radiator valves. The thermostat is in the hallway.
You are right in the fact the valves are too close to the radiator, which is why they are shutting down too soon before the room has a chance to heat up throughout. I moved the wireless thermostat to the livingroom and set it to the same room as the TRV in the app, now it is controlling it better.
I think I need to keep the wireless thermostat in the living room or have multiple ones for the main rooms. Especially if the rooms are large. A small bedroom, no need but a livingroom or kitchen may benefit. From what I see, each wireless bridge can handle 25 devices.

i may just move the wireless thermostat into the lounge to see if it makes a difference … though i suspect my hallway will be 'always on' unless i set that temp down to less … may try it..

Hello @gkinghrn @WildWayz Welcome. Tado TRVs typically report accurate local air temperatures, +/- 0.5 deg C. On large rads, or behind furniture, the TRV can report an incorrect room temperature.
From experience, using the temperature offset is an unsuitable choice for that situation.
The best answer is to add a wireless temperature sensor, mounted in a good location to sense the room temperature, accurate to +/- 0.1 deg C.
There is a lot of flexibility in the room settings. With the 'Tado room' set to a 'zone controller', the 'Tado room' TRV (or wired room stat or wireless temperature sensor) should be sensing the room temperature and will 'call for heat' when needed for the 'Tado room'. If the 'Tado room' is set as 'independent', the Tado device (usually the TRV) will behave like a smart time/temperature device, but not NOT 'call for heat'.
HTH.

hi @wateroakley . Thanks for that. I may well be missing the obvious but how do I set something to be a ‘Tado Room’ set as a ‘zone controller’ vs ‘independent’?
I just see a bunch of rooms and nothing anywhere to show what would be a zone vs an independent room? Here’s all I see . For info I have 3 smart trv in the living room , my hallway has 1 x smart trv plus the wireless thermostat… 1 x smart trv in other rooms ..

@gkinghrn Go to the Room settings and the 'Heating zone' selection is at the bottom. You can choose the 'zone controller' (that will call for heat) of 'independent' (which is like a smart schedule/temperature trv, but will not call for heat).

@gkinghrn I was struggling with this but I think it means in the App:
Settings - Rooms & Devices - select a room listed above a device (like a radiator thermostat), scroll down and find Heating Zone section, then Zone Controller. There you can set the call for heat or work independently.I am going to move wireless thermostat to coldest part of house and set radiator valves to independent. Then maybe radiators stop as they warm and I am only warming the cold areas. It does not get round the problem of valves being right next to heat source but maybe a schedule and temp setting for radiator separate to wireless thermostat is the answer to that…..

yes I checked it all through and saw which TRV were calling the heat. So at least now I have a better idea of how it’s working … I’m tempted to set rads to independent where multiple ones exist in the room and leave as is where only 1 rad in a room.
Let me know how you get on …I’m going to get more info before I start to change what’s there first.
