Tado X Opentherm / Boiler flow water temperature

Hi,

I have Tado X with Opentherm, and today I realized that there are new options to set boiler flow water temperature. But in my case, the maximum temperature that I can set is 44 degrees celsius, is it correct? I would expect to be possible to set a higher temperature, for example 60 degrees. From where is Tado X selecting the maximum possible value?

Thanks

  • i tried it and it doesn't work, always water at 60 degrees (very dangerous). i ask that Tado release an official communication that it is dangerous to use opentherm with their product, clearly not ready for the public!

60°C is a very common temperature for hot water. Recommended even to prevent Legionella bacteria growth.

In the Tado app I see I can set it from 40°C to 65°C, but I haven't tested it yet.

Same here. The app allows the range 35 to 60 degrees C which corresponds with the min and max temperatures of my boiler. Reducing the temperature to 50 did indeed lower the temperature which I measured with a food probe and it indicated 48 to 49. However I think there is something wrong when lower temperatures are selected as the water may eventually run cold. I need to test this again.

Edit: just tested setting to 40 and water from the tap was a constant 39 so I'd say mine is working as expected.

Since you have tado° X + Opentherm, you should have access to the Flow Temperature Optimization feature. This feature allows you more power over the the temperature of the water being used by your heating system. However, as others have pointed out, tado° does consider 50°C - 60°C to be at the upper limit for flow temperature.
