Can the Tado TRV’s be set from independent to be a slave to the room thermostat programme?
I have installed (02/02/2025) a Tado v3 system at my sons house and he additionally also purchased 4 Tado TRV’s for some upstairs rooms that aren’t fully occupied.
The house has some 12 radiators.
He wants to programme the weekly/ daily CH on/off and temperatures to be controlled via the wireless room thermostat as a “master” with the Tado TRV’s set as “slaves” to the room thermostat/ programme, so that even if a Tado TRV called for heat it would not force the CH to turn on.
Can this be done as it looks that by default the Tado TRV’s are independent?

Many thanks davidlyal. We’ll give that a try and feedback. Not got around to trying solutions yet!

Yes, it's called an independent mode. When a TRV is added to the system it will be added to a new room by default. Open the app, at the bottom go to 'Settings' and the pick 'Rooms& Devices'.
Next to a room name you should see an arrow, click on it and then at the bottom of the page there should be an option labeled as 'zone controller'.
Click on it and then choose 'none'. Do this for all the rooms which should not call directly for heat.
With ' none' selected those rooms will still try to maintain the temperature in the space but only when the main room calls for heat.1 -
Many thanks for the speedy response SamuraiJack. We will give it a go and confirm back if successful.

Ignore me. I re-read your post and realised it was me who hadn't understood properly!
Hi @Sparksif you want to have a TRV managed by a smart thermostat that is entirely possible. They just need to be added to the same logical room on the app and then the smart thermostat is set as the measuring device
e.g. this is a room in our house that is particularly cold due to 3 external walls and being above the garage. I added a wireless temp sensor to get a reading in a better location. The WTS is set as the measuring device and there is a zone controller (extension kit) set so that the room can call for heat. If you had a room with multiple rads, you can have smart TRVs on all of them and a WTS/smart thermostat controlling them all
Hopefully this is what you're looking to achieve.
