Morco IV GB24 Propane
Hey All,
I have Morco IV GB 24 and does not have any wired or wireless thermostat currently.
It does appear to be OpenTherm compatible boiler.
I’ve been looking at adding this remote wireless thermostat and looking at purchasing the model :
Anyone had experience fitting Tado X thermostat to this boiler ?
Thanks!
Jason

We have similar Morco and internal wiring looks the same. Easy connection and works well. Take power from the live, remove the jumper for the thermostat and connect the tado as a combi (no hot water controller). I’ll dig out some photos later.1

@Miles_Dearden thanks and appreciated.
Was thinking I can just use the opentherm connection…
Still researching at the moment and want to get connections right so we can control both hot water and heating with Tado wireless.
Pictures make like life so much easier sometimes 😀0 -
Hi. Have searched carefully through the installation guides through to version iv of that boiler. Can't seem to find the reference to Opentherm and worryingly, the Tado Pro app only refers to relay mode. Can you post a link here to the document that showed the possibility of Opentherm?0

Thanks for checking. Here is the manual and mentions OpenTherm on page 16 and wiring diagram on page 11.
Is this going to be compatible as seems to support OpenTherm from boiler manual ?

The pictures also seem to show OpenTherm connections, but I might be missing something on what/how OpenTherm fully works and If this boiler is compatible wit’s Tado X thermostat….

Sorry mate. Totally missed that.
The photograph you took of the chocolate strip on the right hand side, the one which mentions Opentherm at the boiler, is simple. Technically it should be like this;
- A Tado wired thermostat (X series or V3 series) will work. It needs to be set to Opentherm. Contact the Support team (i believe the email address is support@tado.com) and ask them to set out clearly the wiring for that.Remove the loop. Send them the photo of that Opentherm connector point.
- Mount the thermostat where you need it. Run the cable from the thermostat to the boiler.
- At the boiler:
- Kill the power.
- Remove the loop.
- Into those two holes yo, insert the two wires from the Tado thermostat.
- In the app, inform the app that you want Opentherm (using the guide given to you by Tado), and using its instructions, set the mode for the thermostat.
- Power up and test.
Should take about an hour.
