2 V3+ thermostats connected to te same bridge

I have two TADO V3+ thermostats connected to two different systems, each with its own boiler. Can I use a single Internet Bridge to connect both to the network? Then, I will manage them with two different accounts in the application.

Must they be on two seperate accounts? Are they operating in Relay mode or in a digitial control system?

What are the two specific boiler models?

Two smart thermostats could technically be assigned as zone controllers, operate in relay mode control their individual boilers, sharing one internet bridge - and turning up on the app as seperate rooms. Problem is that one internet bridge would mean they would be forced to share one account.

If you want two internet bridges (hence two seperate accounts) to operate on the same router, each dedicated to a boiler, contact Tado support and ask them to set you up so that the two bridges dont interfere with each other. They may first say it cannot be done, but push back and tell them it has been done with Tado support in the past. If they stonewall you come back here.

  • Hi and Thanks.

    They operating in Relay mode.

You say two smart thermostats could technically be assigned as zone controllers, operate in relay mode control their individual boilers, sharing one internet bridge - and turning up on the app as seperate rooms. This is a great news. So I can share the same account/app for 2 differente houses.

But : are you sure is it possible? I see many questions about how to control 2 diferent TADO systems withe the same account/app and they always answer that it's not possible.

Like many others using Tado, we have a situation here where we have multiple system boilers in the same house but we cannot have more than one wireless receiver on the same account. There is also a wierdness which Tado have never explained - they dont like us to have more than one internet bridge on the same account. This challenge is one of many some of us who have complex settings must address. There are workarounds- but these constraints do not apply to your setting, unless you are using at least one system boiler, or at least one boiler also has a hot water tank to control.

This is advice - but you should confirm with Tado support.

When Smart Thermostats are operating in relay mode, they are operating as simple, dumb level switches (driven by temperature and the schedule). Now, in a house with a system boiler (with CH and HW zone valves and thus a wireless receiver determining how to manage the boiler), this would happen:

    • The motorised valves would be switched by the Wired Thermostats- opening and shutting the relevant zone valve. And similarly, Smart Wired Thermostat when operating in dumb mode will, when it needs heat, set its CH pin LIVE- because it has to power the zone valve. This same switching role will also fire a boiler that is being fired in relay mode.
    • However in houses where there is a need to control the system boiler seperately from zone valves, a wireless receiver is deliberately assigned to to the job of commanding the boiler by the app, and wired specifically to handle communications with the boiler. This device would listen to all the other devices (for example Smart Wired Thermostats) and set its CH pin Live- because it is told about this call for heat by the other Wired thermostats. Hence, if this coordinating, central wireless receiver isnt needed, isnt present, the Smart Wired Thermostat will still go live on its CH pin!

Got the logic? Again, AFAIK, the crucial component in determining your account's relationship to the property is the id of the Tado internet bridge- which has a one-to-one relationship with your email account.

Whilst both devices would appear on that account, they should technically be able to drive their boiler and in essence, serve as "zone controllers". Now it seems that both your boilers are combis, so there is no need for a wireless receiver.

We clear? If so, email Tado support and get this nailed down. When you have it working, come back and mark this thread as 'accepted'. If not, come back with what you need to know.
