Tikking sound/noise
Just got my Tado X system set up. On every 6 radiators in my house there is now a smart one.
It keeps making a tikking noise, which I don’t mind expect for the one in bedroom. First I thought it did it to heat the room. So after a couple of nights of waking up I lowered the temperature and I thought it would be over. However this past night it was making the noise when it was 15 degrees while it was set at 12. This makes me want to stop using the Tado overall. Because I’m also struggling with the fact that I need wireless temperature sensors several rooms because the temperature on the radiators is not the same as the room.

Hello @Sleddering25
Sorry you're dealing with this.Sounds coming from a valve is most likely caused by an uneven distribution of pressure within a heating system.
As there are several possible causes for this vibration, please try the following possible quick fixes:
- Lower the pressure levels for the radiators.
- Bleed all radiators of air.
- If you have access to your boiler/pumps, turn down the pump speed in the heating system.
If the issue persists, you could try the following:
- Swap the Smart Radiator Thermostat, which isn’t working correctly (A) with a Smart Radiator Thermostat that is working (B), from another radiator. Please swap both the mounting brackets and thermostat heads. Remove the batteries from the device and wait 10 seconds before putting them back, then close the battery compartment. Then wait 1 minute before you remount the devices. This ensures the devices will calibrate successfully. Check if device A has the same issue on the other radiator, or if device B now has the issue when mounted on device A’s original radiator.
- If all your radiators are equipped with tado°, remove a Smart Radiator Thermostat from the radiator located closest to the boiler. If the noise stops, leave this radiator without a valve permanently.
- If your heating system doesn’t have a bypass, you may need to install a bypass valve (differential pressure regulator). This prevents an undesirable increase in pressure in the pipes. We recommend having this installed by a professional plumber.
If none of the above solves the issue, please contact support with the following information:
- The serial number of each device that was swapped (A and B).
- The specific time and date when you swapped the devices.
- The result of the test. Which device had an issue? We need to check if the issue stays with the radiator, or moves with the device.
