Smart thermostat and srv in same room?

Hay guys. So I have just had tado fitted thoughtout home. I have a smart thermostat and a smart TRV in the hall. What role do they both play and should they be grouped together. As don't see what happens when they are both set at different temps? Slightly confused.

    Yes I have replaced an old thermostat. Of which was in the lounge. The smart thermostat does not switch on when hall trv calls for heat. And how do I group them?
