    @kitching63 'Twas so designed - I don't recollect many asking for a change on this but if you feel strongly about it put it in the suggestions area.

    You cant on google nest either (which is also mains powered. But google can read your mind obviously, so whenever you step towards the display with the intention of reading temperature, before you get to it, the display lights up!!!

    The wired thermostat is not mains powered. It runs solely on battery, even if you’re using it in 230V relay mode. If the LEDs were permanently illuminated the battery life would be reduced significantly, perhaps less than a month.

    That was the point, despite being mains powered, the Nest still doesnt display full time. If it did, ppl would then complain its too bright!!!
