Can a Wireless Smart Thermostat be used as a sensor?

Options

I am after another standalone sensor to measure temp, and control the calls for heat in a room with TRV's. I can only find new wireless sensors (££££!)

I can get hold of a cheap ish second hand wireless smart thermostat (not the wireless sensor), would it work as as a sensor?

    Hi @timnorman12,

Yes indeed that is exactly what it will do.

When you say "TRV's" do you mean Tado Smart Radiator Thermostat' (SRT's) or normal 'dumb' TRV's

If it's SRT's......then you must allocate your 'new' Wireless Thermostat to the same Tado Room as the SRT's that you wish to 'control'. You will also need to select the 'new' Wireless Thermostat as the measuring device. This will give you exactly what you want.

Yes I meant the Tado Smart Radiator Thermostats, so that sounds like it should work!

When the £30 second hand wireless smart thermostat will do the same thing as a new £70 sensor, its a no brainer!

    Many thanks
