TRV dead

So today I noticed one of our rooms were cold. Checked the TRV and its completely dead, batteries are fine and even tried new ones.
However in the process I noticed the top of the TRV is red hot.
Took the batteries out waited 30 minutes and it cooled down. Re-inserted them and after a few minutes red hot again.
I guess something has shorted out inside.
I'm starting to loose my patience with this system now. Too much messing around. Might go back to a standard setup and look at something else.

I have 10 TRVs (they're on every radiator except those in the bedrooms). I have had two TRV failures in 14 months or so: one failed straight out of the box the other within a few weeks of installation. One was replaced by Tado, the other I just replaced with a spare. I have one further spare that hasn't yet been required in around a year.
