Thermostat unresponsive after battery change

After changing the batteries on the thermostat, the device makes no response to pressing the button. Has it failed or am I missing something?

    Try pressing and holding the button for 10 secs and see if it resets itself........also double check that the batteries are in correctly.

    Thanks — I’ve tried both those and used three different sets of new batteries in case I bought duds.

    Update - after six hours, it just started working again!

    Check your pins are straight, check you haven't disturbed any links or dil settings if you have an older one.
