Temperature measurement and averaging

hello, I’m new here. I just purchased 4 tado x radiator thermostats with 4 more on their way. I am a ver, very, very happy user. Matter over thread made it a breeze to install you product, which I did by myself in a matter of minutes.

the question I have is the following, which thermometer do you suggest I purchase to have a further termpeature point in a room which can help me average the thermostats temperatures out and provide the real temperature of the room? I have a living room with 3 thermostats, quite spacious, and all of these are on the outer walls. I would like to measure the temperature in the middle of the room and then have the thermostats manage the output based on their local temperature and the centrally measured one.

I live in an apartment and have zero influence on the central heating, just as an added information.

I have also read that you can use a conventional thermometer to set the temperature difference between the one measured on the thermostat and the one measured in the room, but I am looking for something else. I am looking for a matter over thread thermometer to help me average it all out.thank you for any tips, advice and suggestions.

@il_teo Hello. That's an interesting question.

    • My inital reaction: "Ask Tado 'X' support from the main Tado web site".
    • @Manuel could you advise?

@il_teo nice question. I am happy that you had a smooth installation.

In your situation I would definitely suggest to buy the smart temperature sensor and place it in the middle of the room (for that you can use a stand). In that way it will overwrite the heat request of the radiator thermostats and ensure that the temperature reading is precise and reflects the real conditions in the part of the room you use. The temperature sensor is also a wireless thermostat. You can use its interface to set the temperature of the whole room or to check the temperature of the room.

To be clear, when you have the temperature sensor in the app you don't have anymore the average of the radiator temperature readings of every radiator. You can still see the different temperatures of their sensors via third party matter apps, if needed. Their sensors also still contribute to the Open Window Detection.
