Do I need starter kit to install tado thermostats on my radiators. Can I control them directly from Alexa or a smart phone app without having a starter kit? It would make installation less expensive as I only want to control two radiators in one room at this time

Yes, you have to have a bridge which comes with the starter kit. Also, there is no local control of Tado devices so you must have reliable internet access 24/7.
