Is thermostat blowing my fuses?

Options

I had a wired Tado thermostat installed about a month ago (plus 2x Tado TRVs).

A week later the fan on the boiler blew out. Got that fixed. Then the fuse on the boiler plug socket blew. Replaced that. Then 24 hrs later, it did it again today.

My Tado app is telling me that the stat called for heat this morning and that appears to be when the issue occurred.

Question: Could my Tado thermostat have been wired in incorrectly and that is now causing some sort of irregularity in the wiring / boiler behavior when it calls for heat?

The wired thermostat is battery powered, meaning it does not take power from your home’s electrical system. It cannot be the source of the excess current, but it’s likely to be the trigger because it switches on the boiler’s electrical components.

Likely causes that a plumber should investigate are:

    • Faulty PCB in the boiler.
    • Faulty circulation pump where water is getting into the electronics.
    • If fitted, faulty motorised valve - possible water leak.
