HomeKit: how to automate

I’ve just set up the Tado v3+ and paired with HomeKit but can’t seem to set up the Automation I’m looking for.
Desired Automation: When temp drops below 16°c turn on AC, simple.
However when I select the Tado as the ‘sensor’ I don’t have the option to select the same Tado as the ‘Accessory to Automate’.
If I use a HomePod as the sensor it works, but don’t want to have to buy another HomePod as the Tado should be able to both detect temp and automatically turn on, surely?

For those wondering you need to create a scene > turn on AC to x temperature > automate to turn on when temp drops below y temperature1
