Q re upgrade from v1 to latest version and radiator thermostats

Hi.

I have the very first Tado, v1 which is not compatible with Apple or add ons.

I have a very old non-combi boiler which I am in the process of upgrading to combi. Due to compatible issues and a failing battery on the v1, I’m tempted to upgrade to v3 and go with rad thermostats all around so I can can be precise on where the energy is being used.

If I go for rad thermostats all round, is there any point in getting the full starter kit with the box that controls the boiler or could I do everything I need with just a radiator thermostat starter kit?
