Did a firmware update ruin the reliability of thermostat 'buttons' ?

Hi,

Since about a week now, the thermostat's up/down buttons for the temperature, have become erratic. What happens is:

  • I press the round physical button. The thermostat is slow to respond but the UI lights up.
  • I press the Up button for higher temperature. It does nothing.
  • I press the Up button again.
  • After a brief delay, the temperature goes up 8 degrees and the down button no longer responds.
  • I switch to my phone to correct the temperature setting.

The same happens the other way: If I come to turn the heating down, and press the down button, it goes nuts too and goes all the way to 5° C while only intending to bring it down to 18° C.

This problem is new to me (but still there) and wonder if Taco broke the firmware.

No issues using the iOS app.

White square thermostat, serial number begins with RU

Firmware version 97.1

Removing comment adding hardware info that's posted as an answer.

(Should change the "Leave a Comment" heading to "Add an Answer")

  • The comment box heading says "Leave a comment" but then the submitted text is added to the question as an "answer". This adds noise to the thread, so I moved my extra info to the original post.
