Help! I’ve just moved in to a tado house…

Hi,

I’ve just moved into a house with Tado installed and had to purchase a new internet bridge. Which at £90 I thought was expensive.

Anyway, I have paired the bridge to the smart thermostat, but I cannot see any way of controlling the hot water settings within the app. Can anyone help?

@Jeffers46 What type of boiler do you have system or combi boiler. If the latter, the hot water is heated on demand. The Wireless V3+ controls the heating and how water and the Wired version is for heating only.

  • @royi Its a combi boiler that feeds a hot water tank. I don't think I have the V3+ system. I have small white box with a button on top that is wired into a wiring centre next to the hot water tank. To get hot water I have to press the button on the box and then I get the heating on as well.

@Jeffers46 that white box with a button on top sounds like an extension kit (the version before the wireless receiver). Have you paired that with your new internet bridge?

    See here to pair:

Also see here to check the status of the flashing light on the extension kit - it may provide some clues:

I'm hoping that pairing (or re-pairing) the extension kit might trigger the app to detect you need hot water control.

  • Wow I had to remove the whole box from the wall to find the serial number and code on the back. I have registered the device and paired it with my bridge. But I still cannot see hot water in the app so cannot control it. Worse still I have promised the wife a hot bath tonight and now I cannot even override the extension kit on a manual setting!!
  • Lo, the hot water widget has magically appeared in the app and I now have full control over my whole system! My wife is very pleased. Thank you @royi and @cbd20 for your help. Happy Tadoing to all

Just a thought. I'd be looking to recover that £90 from the previous owner of the house since they removed a critical part of the heating system when they left.
