How to regain control of tado app?

I have tenants at my property where my tado is set up. When they moved in, I gave them access to my Tado username & password for them to login. Soon they removed me out of my own account. There was probably a better way to do all this than to give my own username, so my fault in hindsight.

They have now moved out and I have new tenants moving in a few days. Old tenants do not speak to me. How can I regain access to my Tado? I think I read somewhere that you can just start again and add the serial numbers of the products. Is that correct? Bit lost here on what to do. Need to get access to the house again in order to hand that to new tenant.

    Yes, this is what puts me off adding tado to my rental property. They really need to implement account privileges so you can retain a superuser account while adding user accounts that can only adjust temps and control HW

    I guess it really depends on what they did to your account exactly, @Firestorm3390

    Since you mentioned, that you gave them your username and password, I can see two thing that might have happened: 1. They changed the email-address on your account, 2. They changed the password on your account but left everything else as-is or 3. they invited themselves with their proper email-address and then removed you from the home.

    For option #2 and #3, you can try to regain access to your tado account by requesting a password reset: https://app.tado.com/#/account/reset-password The page will say "We can’t find an account for this email.", if they removed your email-address and replaced it with theirs.

    For option #1, you can just go ahead and create a new account: https://app.tado.com/en/account/create-account

    Either way, you should be able to log into tado again: Either into a newly created account or into your old, existing one.

    At this point check if you can see your devices. If you can: congratulations.

    If not: contact tado support and provide them with:

    • The serial numbers of the devices
    • Photos of the devices with the serial number visible
    • Ideally a copy of your invoice showing the devices purchased
    • An explanation that a previous tenant has registered the devices to their account, but that they are yours and you cannot contact them anymore.

    If I were you, I would start with the password-reset - perhaps things are not as bleak and it's really just a question of resetting the password for your account. Good luck! Let us know how it turned out!
