Tado and Viessmann Vitodens 100W B1KF (New Install)

Hi all,

Hoping to get some help with my new install. Recently had a Viessmann Vitodens 100-w B1KF combi boiler installed. Boiler is working fine as expected, it is set up using weather compensation and I have installed the external temperature sensor.

I installed the Tado V3 kit with the follwing installed:
Internet bridge, wireless receiver, wireless temperature sensor/control, 4 Tado TRV's.

Everything on tado response as expected, TRV's all change when asked to. The issue is that Tado will not turn on / off the boiler.

I have checked the wiring several times, spoken to Tado support who checked my wiring using photos I sent them, they got me to test the system by wiring the grey wire to the + and removing the purple bridge wire which should put the system permenantly on but the boiler came on for 5-10 seconds then stayed off.

Reverted the wiring and support says that the only option is to get a heating engineer back out to check the boiler however this is a new boiler install so find it unlikely this is the issue as the boiler is working as expected.

Things that are set up:

It is set to weather compensation mode

There is an external temperature sensor installed

I have the ViCare App

I have a Vitorol 100-E connected to the boiler (tried taking the batteries out of this to see if it is interfering but nothing changed)

In short nothing tried so far will get Tado to turn on the boiler.

Any advice / help you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • I had written a long reply, but none of it was really helpful, so I deleted it.

In the end I escalated your support request to our installation specialist. Your combination of boiler + Vitotrol 100-E thermostat + the possible receiver for that Vitotrol that is integrated in your boiler, is new. Which is to be expected for a new boiler ;) This possible receiver for the Vitotrol, what kind of impact does it have on the boiler? Does it need to be disabled? Something else? Questions I cannot answer without studying this in a lot of detail, which is not why I'm here.

My main point being that our documentation is not entirely clear about what to do (yet) for this combination, meaning that it requires a bit of specialist work on our side. I presume our specialist will contact you via the existing support request.

  • Much appreciated Rob, I have an email from support to try some changes which I will follow up on and post back here once we have some sort of resolution incase it would be helpful for others.
