Can Tado X Thermostat handle 40 V from thermostat wire

I have a older boiler which gives 40 V from the thermostat wire. Can the Tado x handle this?
FYI I'm swapping from a toon thermostat and removed the transformer bit in between which steps up the voltage to 50V. So the 40 V comes directly from the boiler ( measured on the two wires open therm). Hope someone can help, thanks!

    Cannot find any reference to that boiler in the Tado guides. However the installation and service guide for the bouler is available on the internet here: Manual Bosch 29 VRC (page 2 of 48) (Dutch).

    From the logic circuit they document, your boiler seems to operate with a 24v AC analogue control system, which can, at peak produce 50v. That control messaging system has some fancy features and it mentions that it must be controlled by specific devices, the best being a Bosch TR200 controller.

    • This is its installation guide: TR 200.book
    • This one seems to offer intelligent modulation of the boiler and also leads to at AC signal carrying information that the boiler uses in an interesting way.

    Suggest you contact Tado, ask them for a plan to replace a Bosch TR200 controller and to make the wiring clear, as far as the boiler.

    Tado can then use that thermostat controller as their reference point and, with luck, should give you a plan which is safe. If they dont, come back here and we'll wake them up for you.

  • What's the boiler specifically?

    @policywonk It's a Bosch 29 VRC.
  • I just changed my boiler to an intergas and now it's 27 VD, so it's still higher than 18 V mentioned on device. The weird part is that if I follow tados instructions I should just connect it but I'm hesitant because the voltage is 9V higher.
  • Would you give us the new boiler's specific model? Need to research this again.
