A lot to consider.
1. What exact model is this? It is important.
2. Could you take a photo of the connecting bar, on the right hand bank, where the EMS BUS connection is made?
3. What configuration did you use when setting up the Tado wired thermostat? Was it for relay mode, or to interface with the EMS BUS?
4. What model of wireless controller do you currently have in place?
Many have made this work in relay mode. There is one thread which suggest Tado's can handle the old EMS2 mode that WB offers on that boiler, but having scanned the logs that user hasnt been on the forum for many months. A lot more members have asked for clarity on enabling Tado to interface with the EMS 2 version that comes with the 8000 series.
It should be possible to make this work in the default Relay mode. Please get that info, come back and we can work through the logic.
@Rob You once investigated this boiler's interface. Suggestions?1 -
I have a new WB 8000+ boiler, and the only way I've managed to get Tado to work with it is in Relay (R01) mode.
I had my old boilder also a WB, Greenstar 42DCI wired from my wired Tado thermostat to the Boiler via EMS. HT-EMS I think it's called in Tado, and this did work.
I tried this with the new boiler, and also EMS+ in Tado, bit it did not work, so now I've had to fall back to Relay Mode.
Unfortunately this doesn't give proper Modulation of the boiler, max flow temps, etc.
So after many years with Tado, I'm now considering removing it all and going with WB EasyControl.

@Emcee Would you come back and let us know what the status is on EMS2 interfaces. Having read the community logs, it seems that this need was logged in 2019/20, with repeated requests in 2021, 2022 and in early 2024. Do we have a timetable for this to be addressed on the V series or X series?

@KevinBird Your boiler operates in a later generation of EMS2 and Emcee, who is the admin, is I presume quite rushed given the number of posts on this forum.
So, a suggestion:
- This community thread: Support for the EMS2 bus - Bosch Condens — tado° Community, if one sets aside the negative views for a bit, eventually lead to a view that perhaps some of the delay in supporting this mode is related to the fact that EMS2 is not yet standardised enough - although a few companies use it, their implementations are highly proprietary.
- However this link Worcester Bosch 8000 Modulation : r/tado - seems to suggest that if you install an Opentherm converter, the boiler would work. Looking through this forum, there are other posts confirming that in the EU area many users adopted this approach, because Opentherm was a required standard in the Netherlands.
An idea. It seems therefore the most expedient route right now is to consider obtaining an Opentherm adaptor. If you are open to this, consider:
- Contacting Tado Sales. Ask them if they have specific recommendations regarding the capability of Tado kit with an Opentherm adaptor added to your boiler.
- Contacting Bosch Sales. They are, owing to the Dutch legislation, legally required to forward their formal specific, constructive answer if you ask for their recommended approach to an Opentherm adaptor, one which has been trialed in their experience.
This demands two emails. If you are still unsatisfied with the answers, come back here. There are others on this forum who have implemented Opentherm adapters. Opentherm is a widely accepted industry standard.

So sorry for the late reply I've been otherwise busy. So it turned out as an easy fix. After following the tado instructions to install the thermostat, all i had to do was remove the rf card. That was the reason the tado thermostat wasn't working.0

Used to have a new Vallaint boiler in my last home, replacing the old relay driven Baxi. It troubled me that there was seemingly no interface available in the Tado family with Vallaint would tolerate discussing. So although I moved house, I do remember that that boiler was really well designed and have kept looking for pathways to address the communication gap. Am not alone, there are many on this forum who have tried, some even succeeded in making the two ends talk to each other.
Smart boilers, handled with smart controls, is a direction which needs further thought. Although there may be two distinct positions (one against, one for)- the market is also defined by end users.
