Tado X wireless receiver connected to WIFI but not connecting to internet - Offline in the app

I woke up today and found my tado wireless receiver offline. It initially appears to connect to WIFI and internet but after a few mins or less the left wifi indicator remains positive, the middle one goes out and the right one pulses. The device has the latest firmware 246.2 but remains unresponse and offline in the app. I have tried resetting / factory resetting everything to no prevail. Really not sure how to continue as per other threads this seems to be a common issue with other users. I am thinking of returning as I now have no way of controlling my heating or hot water in my house via the wireless receiver. I thought buying the tado x with matter support would mean I didn't have to deal with these issues especially given UK users were not given any access to discounts to upgrade (i was not even after reaching out to customer service on that matter separately). Tado X was supposed to be the future but it seems that I should have stayed on V3 as I never had any issues there. Only reason I upgraded was due to moving to a bigger place which required further connection rage (Matter to the rescue?) I am really disappointed in this given its costs and having been a Tado user over the past few years with zero issues.

  • Hello @KB2K

Do you have a Linksys router by chance?

We have reports that their DNS is causing problems. If you change your DNS to Google DNS, the issue should be resolved.

If you don't use Linksys, could you let us know...

    1. Is the issue ongoing?
    2. What ISP do you have? (internet service provider)
    3. What is the make/model of your router/modem?

  • Yes I have a linksys router with Community Fiber internet service. I was able to restore connectivity by chaning the DNS on the linkysis router as per the note in Tado support.

  • Hi @Emcee

I got the same problem and use Linksys and Community Fibre. How to change to the Google DNS?
  • Hello @Tomtom12345678

Have a look at the last 2 comments in this thread.

  • I had the same problem, and in the end after much re-starting and even trying a new router from BT I put new batteries in the smart temperature sensor - even though the battery symbol said they were ok. So far everything working perfectly.
